The Supreme Court overturned a Madras High Court verdict granting bail to eight accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, stressing national security s importance. Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal directed the accused to surrender immediately. The ruling followed a plea by the National Investigation Agency challenging the bail order.
