the greece national team wore rainbow gloves as well. and today president obama talked about why he made a point of sending openly gay athletes as part of the american delegation. we wanted to make very clear that we do not abide by discrimination in any forms, including discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. that i think is consistent with the spirit of the olympics. it is certainly consistent with american values. and we wanted to make sure that people understand that. we honor athletes when they push their bodies to the limit. but we also honor them when they push the world to do the right thing.
