Ahead of the nationwide chakka jam called by the farmer unions protesting the Centre s new agri laws, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the peaceful satyagraha of the annadatas is in national interest as the farm laws are harmful for the country.
Farmer unions had on Monday announced a countrywide chakka jam on February 6 during which they would block national and state highways between 12 noon and 3 pm to protest the internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly meted out to them by authorities, and other issues.

Union minister Smriti Irani on Friday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of “declaring war” on the people of the country. Her comment came after Gandhi warned that the protests against the farming laws will spread if the government doesn’t find a solution to the crisis.
“Rahul Gandhi today declared war on the people of India,” Irani said at a press briefing. “He said that if his political stand is not supported by the PM [Prime Minister] of our country, then cities will burn! I appeal to every Indian citizen to ensure that Rahul Gandhi’s call for violence is met with sustained peace.”

Violence is not the solution to any problem, top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said today as Delhi witnessed massive protests by farmers over the controversial new agricultural laws. The unprecedented Republic Day agitation saw farmers entering the Red Fort complex and hoisted flags from some domes of the iconic monument.
The police used tear gas and resorted to lathi-charge broke after farmers, ahead of their scheduled tractor rally, breached barricades at several borders of Delhi, deviated from their planned route and forced their way to central Delhi.
