THE Israeli government has committed to provide continuous and stronger support for the Philippine agriculture sector, with hopes of delivering more investments to the country.
In a roundtable with The Manila Times, Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Rafael Harpaz said his government will be closely working with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to intensify technology transfer in agriculture-fishery sector, particularly fertigation, irrigation, post-harvest facilities, hydroponics “and all those technologies that Israel is already introducing to the Philippines.”
Harpaz also mentioned that the government of Israel is sticking to its role to create the conditions that facilitate and help its private sector to invest in Philippine agriculture. ....

‘Legal issues bar Israel from sharing excess vaccines with Philippines’
MANILA, Philippines Legal issues prevent Israel from sharing its excess COVID-19 vaccines with the Philippines and 19 other countries that made a similar request, Israeli Ambassador Rafael Harpaz said over the weekend.
In an interview with The STAR, Harpaz said Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. had asked him if Israel has excess vaccines that can be shared with the Philippines.
He said the request is not unique and that the Philippines is “very high on the list” of at least 20 countries that had approached Israel for excess vaccines, but legal issues exist. ....

PAL plans to fly non-stop to Israel in October

Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, is planning to fly non-stop from Manila to Tel-Aviv in October 2021, the Israel Ministry of Tourism announced on Tuesday.

This was the result of a series of discussions between Israel’s delegation and PAL executives amid the improving COVID-19 situation in Israel
According to Amir Halevi, Director General of Israel Ministry of Tourism, this is good news for all Filipinos who have been longing of a spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land or a Mediterranean getaway after more than a year of being in the lockdown. ....

“This is good news for all Filipinos who have been longing for a spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land or a Mediterranean getaway after more than a year of being in the lockdown,” the embassy said in a statement on Tuesday.
Israel Ministry of Tourism director general Amir Halevi said the non-stop flights between Manila and Tel Aviv would be a “game changer.”
“I am pleased to give this important first step to the tourism industry between Israel and the Philippines. Direct flights between our two capitals will be a game-changer for tourism and business connectivity. This time, Israel has a unique advantage as a safe and healthy country. We hope to welcome you soon in Israel!” said Amir Halevi, Director General of Israel Ministry of Tourism. ....
