Doha: Asian champions Qatar will face Argentina in a crucial IHF Men’s World Championships match today, hoping for a win in their final Group II tie in Cairo.
Al Annabi, coached by Valero Rivera, are facing a tricky situation in a possible route to the quarter-finals as only a win will not be enough for Qatar to take them to the next stage.
Qatar, to qualify for the last 8, must win against Argentina, and also hope defending champions Denmark beat Croatia in today’s other match.  ....

Doha: Asian champions Qatar yesterday staged a fierce comeback to overturn a one-goal deficit in the first period to defeat Bahrain 28-23 in their IHF Handball World Championship Main Round - Group II match.
At the Cairo Stadium Sports Hall in Cairo, Egypt, the first period ended with Bahrain holding a narrow 14-13 lead. 
Qatari star Rafael Capote and Bahrain s Mohamed Ahmed both managed to score five goals each in the first 30 minutes. ....

Qatar defeat Bahrain 28-23, improves chances of quarter-finals berth at IHF Men's World Championship


The Qatari national handball team defeated Bahrain 28-23 on Saturday in the second match of the main round of the ongoing 27th IHF Men s World Championship, which is taking place in Egypt until Jan 31.
The Qatari team raised their points to four with the win while their Bahraini counterpart remained on zero points.
Bahrain ended the first half with a 14-13 lead, but Qatar started the second half with strength and focus and succeeded in snatching the victory.
With the result, Qatar still have a mathematical chance to advance to the quarter-final if they win their last match against Argentina on Monday. Depending on the results from the other matches in the group. ....
