crowd. plus new reporting on unnamed lawmakers working with the white house. why a judge tossed trump s lawsuit to keep his taxes away from congress. and a closer look at the ongoing human victims of the big lie. when all in starts right now. good evening from new york. i m chris hayes. right now as we speak the house of representatives are preparing to vote on holding donald trump s former chief of staff mark meadows in contempt of congress, a body in which he once served, for refusing to comply with subpoena from the january 6th committee. the debate on this resolution started this afternoon around 4:15. there was a bit of a holdup by republicans over accusations that house majority leader steny hoyer disparnged republican congressman jim banks. once they sorted through all that they picked up the debate around 5:30 p.m. the debate is done now. there s some other house business happening. we re waiting for them to vote on whether to refer mark meadows to the departmen
that just get disregarded, but then they tried to weaponize text message, leaked them to put out a narrative that quite frankly that the president didn t act. and i can tell you, this is the the president did act, this is all about, you know, it is not about holding me in contempt, it is about coming after president donald trump and sadly that s what tonight s vote was all about. the panel voted unanimously to advance the contempt of congress charges against mark meadows, and today the body he used to serve in will vote on pursuing those contempt charges against him. joining us now, democratic congresswoman elaine lori of virginia, a member of the select committee to investigate the january 6th attack. the committee voted to recommend mark meadows for contempt. those text messages that were read out loud during that hearing last night, what did they reveal to you? why are they important? well, thanks for having me this morning. you know, i think it reveals to me as we
