From daniel pullman, the deputy secretary of energy. we ll keep an eye on that as our coverage continues here on msnbc. let s get to nbc s chief health and science correspondent, robert bazell. he s live in tokyo. robert, want to check in on you and what is happening at this plant. when last you and i spoke, there was going to be an effort to bring power lines in to try to get those generators that can operate the cooling system there going again. whatever became of that? did it work? reporter: well, we haven t gotten word that it worked yet. the last we heard, they were promising by what will be morning in tokyo. it s the middle of the night now. and we probably will get word tomorrow whether it has started. that would be a critical improvement in the condition. now, don t forget, this is a race between getting water on to those hot fuel rods before they explode and release massive amounts of radiation and getting water on them to cool them down. and it s whether the radiation whe ....
