A special court for cases against MP and MLAs in Chennai convicted actor couple Ramanathan Sarathkumar and Radhika and one more person in a 2018 cheque bounce case and sentenced them to one-year rigorous imprisonment on Wednesday. In addition, the court has also imposed a penalty of Rs. 5 crores in connection with the case.
The case pertains to Radiance Media Private Ltd. Moving filing a plea alleging that Magic Frames company, where Sarathkumar, Radhika and Listin Stephen are partners, had borrowed Rs. 1.50 crore and had issued two cheques. Subsequently, Sarath had taken another loan of Rs. 50 lakhs from Radiance Media and in return, he had issued five cheques for Rs. 10 lakh each. When the cheques were presented for realisation, they all bounced.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 5 crores in connection with the cases.

The issue pertains to Radiance Media Private Ltd moving a plea alleging that Magic Frames company, in which Sarathkumar, Radhika and Listin Stephen are partners, had borrowed Rs 1.50 crore, which is a film financing company, and issued two cheques. Subsequently, Sarath had obtained a hand loan of Rs 50 lakh from Radiance Media. In return, he had issued five cheques for Rs 10 lakh each. When the cheques were presented for realisation, they all bounced.
Radikaa and Sarathkumar sentenced to one-year imprisonment in cheque bounce case
Actors and politicians Sarathkumar and Radikaa were convicted in a cheque bounce case today. The court imposed a penalty of Rs 5 crore.

On April 7, The Special Court convicted actors and politicians, Sarathkumar, Radikaa and producer Listin Stephen in a cheque bounce case. The court also sentenced Sarathkumar and Radikaa to one-year imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 5 crore in connection with the case. Radiance Media Private Ltd had filed a plea against the couple in 2018.

The couple move special court seeing suspension of sentence
The Additional Special Court for Trial of cases related to Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, on Wednesday sentenced Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader Sarath Kumar and his actor-wife Radhikaa Sarath Kumar to one year rigorous imprisonment, in each of seven cheque bounce cases filed separately against them, and also directed them pay ₹3.3 crore as compensation to the complainant. The sentence will run concurrently.
