Buddies Tearoom opened in Mickley, Prudhoe, during lockdown, catering for people outdoors, and now - with the lifting of restrictions on the hospitality industry - it is showing off its welcoming interior for the first time. ....
A MICKLEY-BASED non-medical community support service has opened a new look day centre for its users. Community Buddies has taken over the former Elisa Rose building, on the A695 through the village, with plans to open a tearoom for the public in the coming weeks - initially operating on a takeaway basis. The family-run befriending service was set up in 2016 by Rackel Miller, in her spare bedroom, and has quickly proved a valuable lifeline to the elderly and vulnerable across Tynedale, offering companionship calls, home visits and respite services for families. The ground-floor day centre, which strives to be a relaxing, sociable environment for vulnerable adults, has been a huge hit since its grand opening. ....
