This is the first cove in 19 vaccine to be authorized in the United States, and while FDA Commissioner Dr Stephen Hahn says the Pfizer Cove in 19 vaccine was developed quickly. But Americans can have trust and confidence that the vaccine meets FDA is rigorous standards for safety and effectiveness that will be crucial. The vaccine being rushed across the country is only useful if people will take it when the vaccine is available for you personally. Is that one you will take? Yes, I will definitely get the vaccine. Dr. Rachel Roper is an associate professor of microbiology and immunology at Issues Brody School of Medicine. Years ago, she was also on the team working on an accelerated vaccine for the SARS virus. Pfizer s coronavirus vaccine has now been authorized for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration. Now, the race is on to get the vaccine to people across the country.
But according to a new poll released by AP-NORC, only about half of Americans are ready to roll up their sleeves when their turn comes. Infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said that for herd immunity to be achieved, about 75 to 80% of people need to be vaccinated, but polling shows public trust in a vaccine is below that line.

how hot it got today. as you know, so far this summer, there have been very few hot days. back in july, we hit 94. today, we hit 94 as well. that s going to be the official high today. we re down to 93 today. the coolest spot, oakland had rain down to 70. but ocean city, still coming in in the upper 90s down there. they really had a horrible day down there. our heat index, right around 98. oakland, around the 74-degree mark. ocean city, over 100 109 degrees. still have a heat advisory. bernadette in the outback after we take a look at radar real quick. i have to show you showers. we have shower activity going on across far western maryland, as you can see. the folks out there have been receiving decent rain. around the baltimore region, it s quiet. but out to the west, that s where we re seeing the showers and thunderstorms. tomorrow, that s what we expect to be in our region. and with that, cooler temps. bernadette has a look at what we normally expect on this day and th
