Delco has not received any COVID vaccines


Eighty-seven hospitals across Pennsylvania are slated to receive the COVID-19 vaccine - but Delaware County, despite its staggering rate of positive cases - is not on the list.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced the dissemination of 97,500 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 to dozens of hospitals throughout Pennsylvania as they are intended for critical health care workers. State officials said the hospitals on the vaccine distribution plan had to have enrolled as a COVID-19 vaccine provider. 
Hospitals in Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties were on the list and some have already received the vaccine. The Philadelphia County Health Department received 13,650 doses that it is distributing to hospitals within the city limits.  ....

“Stay home” has been a mantra of the Wolf administration’s response to the COVID-19 crisis, and on Tuesday, in expectation of today’s big snowstorm, the administration doubled down on that mantra, to help ensure that hospitals get scheduled shipments of the new coronavirus vaccine.
Officials have urged people to stay home for months to avoid infecting themselves and others, and on Tuesday, they urged people to stay off the highways so delivery trucks from Michigan have less to contend with as they transport doses of Pfizer’s new drug to Pennsylvania hospitals in weather that could bring up to 2 feet of snow. ....

Chesco residents hopeful COVID-19 vaccine will bring normalcy


KENNETT SQUARE — Many Chester County residents said they are looking forward to being vaccinated for coronavirus, as four Chester County hospitals are among 83 in the state that will get 97,500 vaccine doses.
Vaccine doses will go to Chester County Hospital-Penn Medicine in West Chester, Brandywine Hospital, Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, and Phoenixville Hospital, all Tower Health hospitals.
Locals are ready for the pandemic shutdown to end. People on Tuesday expressed gratitude for the vaccine now en route to southeastern Pennsylvania.

“I’m all for it — the process of taking care of the frontline people first,” said Tammy Duering, business owner of RE/MAX of Kennett Square on Onix Drive, located off Route 1 south of Longwood Gardens in Southeastern Chester County. She added this process includes then taking care of senior citizens and individuals who really need the vaccine urgently now for medical reasons. ....
