Zoe’s Rocks initiative keeps Shrewsbury teen’s message of kindness alive

Brian Alperson, 17, of Shrewsbury, spends many evenings settled into the routine of painting rocks while watching TV. For him, rock painting is much more than just a hobby. 
Brian’s childhood friend, Zoe Wolfus, also from Shrewsbury, died from suicide on Aug. 27, 2020, after experiencing depression and anxiety for years. She was 16.  
The rock painting tradition began with Zoe herself, who had a knack for art throughout life. She “started painting rocks at the beginning of quarantine as a way of spreading happiness throughout (Shrewsbury),” said Danielle Wolfus, Zoe’s mother.   ....
