The truism that the longer something takes, the more satisfying its completion isn t always applicable to videogames. Many of my joyless grinds have ended in a bitter sense of relief rather than waves of joy. But when that game is R-Type Final and the grind is unlocking the full ship roster, the little ding that announced I d unlocked the final of Final was a profoundly personal moment of deep satisfaction. 16 years in the making, it s probably the longest grind I ve ever undertaken and alarmingly it only took 40 hours of gameplay to achieve, which tinged the whole thing with a weird sense of guilt. I should have done this a lot sooner. But nonetheless, the deed was finally done and my instance of the glorious R Museum is now resplendent with a complete catalogue..
R-Type Final 2 s Getting A Special Chronicle Box , But There s No Game Included
As we get closer to
R-Type Final 2 s launch, Granzella has begun kicking its launch preparations into gear. Confirming a Japanese release date of April 29th via Famitsu, it has now revealed it ll be accompanied by a Special Chronicle Box .
Retailing at ¥16,830 – which roughly comes in around $160 / £117 – it comes with 6 different items in total. That includes a theme song CD by MCU – a member of hip hop s Kick The Can Crew – alongside several throwbacks to earlier R-Type entries, making this one for the long-term fans. R-Type Final 2 Japanese Release To Be Accompanied By Goods Box
The Japanese release of
R-Type Final 2 will be accompanied by a Special Chronicle Box containing goods related to the shoot-em-up game series. This memorabilia box will be available in Japan on April 29, 2021. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The box will contain items branded with logos of the early
R-Type titles. It will also include a single CD containing a new theme song written by MCU, a member of the Japanese hip hop group Kick The Can Crew.
