(File photo) MANILA - The country's health care utilization rate is still at the lowest level despite the slight uptick in Covid-19 cases, OCTA Research fellow, Dr. Guido David, said on Monday. In a virtual public briefing, David said there is no threat yet in terms of medical services as the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded just a slight increase from 22 percent to 23 percent occupied hospital beds. The average daily attack rate (ADAR) is at 3.6 percent, much lower than the cutoff set by the Department of Health (DOH) at 6 percent. "Pero napakababa nito so hindi natin masasabi na threatened tayo (But it is still very low so we couldn't say that we are threatened by this) in terms of health care utilization rate)," David said. David said OCTA is seeing a weak surge by the second or third week of July because of the Omicron sub-lineage variants BA.4 and BA.5 but it will not be as concerning as the one that started in December last year. "Mas mabagal ang hawa ....

In a statement Thursday, Concepcion said he will be meeting key experts in health and business sectors who were also critical in providing advice and outlook in the past two years amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. "We've seen over the past two years how important it is to have experts from all fields guiding us through the pandemic. Experts have credibility with our citizens, and they give advice based on science and data," he said. He cited names of experts "who have lent their insights for Go Negosyo's pandemic response efforts". They are National Task Force Against Covid-19 Special Adviser Dr ....

(PNA photo by Joey O. Razon) MANILA - Despite predictions that Covid-19 cases will increase anew amid loosened restrictions and campaign-related mass gatherings, OCTA Research projected a low hospitalization rate due to high vaccination coverage. OCTA Research fellow Dr. Ranjit Rye urged the public during Tuesday's "Laging Handa" public briefing to complete their primary Covid-19 vaccine series and get boosted as "there is a very big possibility of cases going up". Rye said a new surge is "inevitable" now tha ....
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David (PNA file photo) MANILA-The massive vaccination program of the government has significantly contributed to the downtrend of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Philippines, OCTA Research fellow, Dr. Guido David, said Saturday. For the past two years of battling the pandemic, David said one of the noticeable trends is having surge waves three to four months apart. "Medyo sinu-support nga nito yung hypothesis na humina yung immunity natin after a period of time usually mga three to four months pero sa ngayon maganda naman ang kalagayan natin (It is quite supporting the hypothesis that our immunity is going down after a period of time usually its three to four months, but we are now in a good situation)," David said at the public virtual briefing. He noted that it is also possible that the Covid-19 surge in the country will not happen. "Kasi umpisa nang magkaroon tayo ng mass vaccination talagang na-control na natin, esp ....
MANILA - The number of Covid-19 cases in the National Capital Region continues to decrease, with a minus 42 percent growth rate as of last week. During a televised public briefing on Monday, Dr. Guido David, OCTA Research Group member, noted the decline was also observed in Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal. "Iyong daily attack rate natin ay nasa 61 na lang per 100,000 so mukhang mataas pa rin iyan kaya sinasabi naman natin na high risk pa rin (Our daily rate is at 61 per 100,000 [individuals] so it still looks high, and we say it's still high risk)," David said. NCR's average daily attack rate was previously over 100. "Iyong positivity rate natin, wala akong datos nito sa ngayon, pero sa pagka-intindi ko or extrapolation namin, baka nasa 40 percent na lang (Our positivity rate, I don't have data at the moment, but our extrapolation is, it might be at 40 percent only)," he said. If the current trend in the NCR continues, David said the region might experience a ....
