Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil, who initiated a hunger strike, announced the conclusion of the protest, stating that the Maharashtra government has accepted their request for Kunbi certificates for 54 lakh identified individuals. Patil praised CM Eknath Shinde, declaring the protest over, and mentioned that the certificates would be issued soon. Earlier, Patil had warned of marching to Mumbai if demands weren t met. Maharashtra minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha asserted that a recently passed ordinance addresses the issues, rendering protests unnecessary. The Supreme Court had invalidated Maratha reservations on May 5, 2021, citing breach of the 50% reservation limit.
