Noosa residents have been urged to get tested for COVID-19 after fragments of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in the shire s wastewater treatment plant.
Queensland Health say the treatment plant services the suburbs of Boreen Point, Castaways Beach, Cooroibah, Marcus Beach, Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Peregian Beach, Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach and Tewantin.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service public health physician Dr Penny Hutchinson said anyone with symptoms, no matter how mild, should come forward and get tested. ....

New Mackay COVID case being treated in Brisbane

A second Mackay resident has tested positive to COVID-19 this week, bringing the region’s total case tally to date to 18.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman said there were currently no active cases in Mackay however, a Mackay resident has tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated in Brisbane.
“The confirmed case is a recent addition in Mackay’s total COVID-19 case count however, they have not been infectious in any community,” the spokeswoman said.
“It is likely that this patient is a returned overseas traveller and tested positive while in hotel quarantine.
“There is no reason for the Mackay community to be alarmed, this just goes to show how effective our hotel quarantine system is.” ....

REVEALED: CQ COVID testing numbers since Gladstone scare


Central Queenslanders have turned out en-masse to get COVID tests after the region was jolted into action by a virus scare on Monday.
A visit with family between March 25 and 28, from a former Gladstone man who now lives in Brisbane, sparked community concern.
The man, who was unknowingly positive with the virus after contracting it from a workmate, was only advised of his possible status when called by his boss on Saturday, March 27.
He immediately masked up and went and got tested at Gladstone Hospital.
A Queensland Health Service spokeswoman said Central Queenslanders should be congratulated for adhering to public health directions. ....

A quarantine location is yet to be announced by Queensland Health for a ship thats crew must come ashore in Gladstone at the weekend.
The Marshall Islands flagged MV Astra Centaurus is scheduled to dock in Gladstone on Saturday, according to Maritime Safety Queensland.
The 196 metre long bulk carrier was built in 2012 and is owned by US based Pegasus Maritime Enterprises.
The ship docked in the Korean port of Donghae for three days last month, departing on February 7, bound for the port of Cebu, in the Philippines.
On March 3, after unloading cargo in Cebu which reduced the ships draught from 11.8 metres to 6.7 metres, the Astra Centaurus set sail for Gladstone. ....
