convicted sex offender earning a paycheck and in prison. new details on the story you saw first on fox. michael buczyner live outside of the department of public works headquarters with more on the scheme that bilked the city on out of thousands of dollars. mike snell. jeff and jennifer, as many as five kids were involved in this elaborate scheme for one man, serving time behind bars to continue to collect his paychecks. now according to a report, just released by the inspector general, convicted sex offender dennis mclaughlin collected $12,700 serving eiggt months in prison for abusing a minor. 17 page report said mclaughlin, a utility repairman with the department of public works had 15 fraudulent medical leave slips submitted by an unnamed office assistant leading supervisors to believe he was recovering from surgery. paid sick days from the union sick bank and most concerning for the director of public works that, none of mclaughlin s managers attempted to contact him
