Governments of Canada and Quebec invest in seven recreational and sports projects in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region

Today, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Isabelle Charest, Quebec’s Junior Minister for Education and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, announced funding of more than $4 million for seven projects in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region. For the occasion, they were accompanied by Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Minister Responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region and MNA for Chicoutimi; Éric Girard, MNA for Lac-Saint-Jean; and His Worship Marc Asselin, Mayor of Alma. This funding will ensure that residents of the region have access to safe, modern facilities that promote active, healthy and inclusive lifestyles. ....

Changes to COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario and Quebec


The Ontario government is returning to a five-color regional zoning system where restrictions on business and community activity are determined by the number of active cases in a particular region.  A green zone has the least number of restrictions, yellow, orange, and red zones are in the middle, and gray is a total shutdown.
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit is responsible for local public health in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry, the City of Cornwall, and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.  According to its Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, the Ontario government is examining COVID-19 statistics from each public health department each Tuesday and will announce on Fridays which color designation each territory will be under beginning on the following Monday.  ....
