Raleigh, N.C. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association will be questioned by a group of lawmakers on Thursday afternoon as the state investigates its role as a non-profit.
In a meeting of the Joint Legislative Commission on Governmental Operations, Sen. Vickie Sawyer (R-Iredell) presented concerns about the NCHSAA s role as a private non-profit corporation and said the NCHSAA has more money than other similar organizations across the country. ....

Raleigh, N.C. The N.C. High School Athletic Association will be questioned by a group of lawmakers on Thursday afternoon as the state investigates its role as a non-profit.
In a meeting of the Joint Legislative Commission on Governmental Operations, Sen. Vickie Sawyer (R-Iredell) presented concerns about the NCHSAA s role as a private non-profit corporation and said the NCHSAA has more money than other similar organizations across the country.
According to the resolution, the subcommittee will be asked to further examine issues concerning the administration and management of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, and the oversight and supervision of interscholastic athletics in North Carolina public high schools. ....

NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker released the following statement on Apr. 13, following the formation of a legislative subcommittee to investigate the association.
“The NCHSAA Board of Directors and Staff has always served it member high schools, and we will continue representing their interests to the General Assembly relative to the direction of education-based athletics in our state. The NCHSAA has cooperated with the requests made by the North Carolina General Assembly and will continue to do so because the Association has nothing to hide. ....
