Listening to commissioner Gary Bettman, who wrapped up two days of Board of Governors meetings in Seattle this week, always makes me think you need an interpreter, someone who understands Bettman-speak, to dissect what he really means. Because with Bettman, nothing is ever said accidentally. Every communication is designed with a purpose, as long as you can plumb beneath the boilerplate and motherhood statements, all of which are intended to tell you how smoothly the NHL ship is running at the moment.
