Bit. i want to talk about the country you are in right now. last night we know nato air strikes hit the gadhafi compound again in tripoli. obviously, they are trying to ramp up the air strikes. is it having any effect? reporter: well work it s tough to tell. they said there were about six people killed, ten others injured according to syrian state tv in those bombings last night. they have also increase sold of their bombings around misrata as well. according to the rebel, they say they have taken over the airport in misrata, which they would say would be a pretty big development. obviously over the last several weeks, we have seen it more or less as a stalemate there they think they have been able to at least push gadhafi s forces outside the airport that they are not able to shell the port, which has been a big issue and obviously some of the key centers in misrata as well. so that does seem to be certainly a development, all this as gadhafi once again shows up on tv last night you ....
Rebels and that is about it. gadhafi s forces surround it and they have been able to shell very effectively from the outskirts of the city. what the rebels were claiming victory over the weekend was that they had managed to push gadhafi s snipers out of a main building in the center of misrata and push his ground troop s out of the downtown are. it is unclear if his forces were driven out or pulled out so they could more effectively shell the center of misrata without firing on their own troops. richard engel on post in benghazi. thank you very much, richard. and the wave of revolution continues in yemen as well where protesters loyal to president saleh fired bullets and tear gas killing two, injuring dozens more. the president signed a deal this weekend, supposedly promising to leave within 30 days, turning power over to his vice president. protesters say it is just his ....
They re the only power that he s really concerned with. gregg: does nato need to step up attacks? at this point i would say no because if nato the more they start attacking, given the uncertainty on the ground, the more you re going to see incidents where we bomb rebel forces because it s such a cluster down there that it s difficult to figure out who is who and when you start slinging around high explosive net weapons, you know, bad things happen. gregg: wait a minute. if americans are pulling out of this thing in terms of combat operations and you don t think nato should be stepping up its bombing strikes, then isn t gadhafi going to win? well, i think gadhafi is going to solidify his current gains. he s probably smart enough to realize that if he keeps pressing the rebels, then nato will step up its kinetic ....
Fighters began firing shots up in the air, according to the rebels here, they say that the nato aircrafts mistakenned the shots and thought they were gadhafi troops firing at the jets and that the nato troops fired back. surprisingly, though, the rebel fighters here on the ground were not particularly angry at nato. they seemed to understand there was a lot of confusion on the ground and still really do, according to what they told us today, appreciate nato and the u.s. s efforts to push gadhafi s troops back and everything they re doing. they want more support from the u.s. and from the international community. they want more weapons. they want more training. they want more enforcement of this no-fly zone. there is an eagerness on the part of the rebels for more help here. one thing that will be changed in the next 24 hours as of today, saturday is the last day that the united states will take part in combat missions here in libya. they are handing over all combat missions to the nato ....
thank you. gregg: fox news alert. rebel forces in libya say 13 of their own fighters have been killed by friendly fire. they apparently got caught up in a nato air strike against their common enemy, missouri, and his forces. the attack happened as the rebels were getting ready to storm a key oil city. hunter powell is streaming live from ajdabiayh, libya. conner? gregg, nato continues to enforce this no-fly zone. we just heard jets flying above a few minutes ago. but it isn t becoming increasingly difficult to enforce as the front lines blur, as gadhafi troops and rebels engage in different parts of northern libya here. today, according to nato officials, they are investigating reports that nato coalition jets may have mistakenly dropped bombs on a rebel fighting position, according to rebels here, they say 13 fights were killed and many injured after some rebel ....
