Goldsboro/Wayne County area Purple Heart recipients and their families will be honored during the 10th annual Goldsboro/Wayne Purple Heart Foundation Banquet and Ceremony in August.
Plans are in place for the return of the annual Goldsboro/Wayne Purple Heart Banquet and Honor Ceremony.
And in preparation for the event, the Wayne County Veterans Services Office is selling chances on a military-themed quilt created by a renowned Wayne County quilt maker. The quilt is on display at the Veterans Services Office at 2001-D E. Ash St.
The ninth banquet honoring Purple Heart recipients and Gold Star families is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center, beginning with a reception at 5 p.m.
The banquet is an annual event, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no banquet was held last year.
