Reply 01/12/2021 Northern Virginia, VA… The Northern Virginia Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Committee is pleased to announce the creation of the Northern Virginia Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). Subscribe The purpose of this team is to investigate critical incidents involving law enforcement officers within the cooperating jurisdictions. The team is comprised of seasoned criminal detectives, crime scene technicians, and commanders from the 11 participating agencies . The Chief Executive Officer of each participating agency in Northern Virginia will have the option of calling upon this multi-jurisdictional team to investigate incidents within their localities. These incidents include but are not limited to; law enforcement involved shootings, any action taken by law enforcement which results in the death or a life-threatening injury of a person in the performance of an officer/deputy s duties, in custody deaths, and law enforcement officer suicides. ....
After Sgt. Rob Wagner of the Purcellville Police Department encountered a homeless man on Dec. 5 who was not appropriately clothed or equipped to endure the cold, he decided to extend kindness beyond his mere duties. Wagner reached out to the man the next day and requested that they meet, according to PPD officials. The officer not only bought breakfast for the man, who was far removed from his home state of Texas; he contacted the manâs family and arranged for assistance from local public safety chaplains to help gather materials to keep him safe and warm. A chaplain with Loudoun County Fire and Rescue brought warm clothing, a sleeping bag and a tent, all packed into a duffle bag that could fit on the manâs bike. Money was also provided to the man, the PPD said. ....
