No schools have been closed in Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SBS Nagar, Pathankot, Tarn Taran and Malerkotla districts.
Bains added that deputy commissioners, at their own level in each district, can declare holidays in schools situated in areas that are still flooded, or if the school building has suffered any damages.
Schools in several states have been closed due to Kanwar Yatra and heavy rain. The closure is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. Parents are advised to keep in touch with the school authorities.
