Choosing to say, hey, we need to put border security on government funding. that is really potentially hurtling us to a government shutdown because house republicans are in a very different position than senate republicans as well as the democratic white house. and so we are just weeks away from that january 19th funding deadline. this puts a very big wrench into the position of howl they re going to come together on some kind of a funding package and not have a government shutdown. because right now house republicans staking out that very aggressive stance to say any funding package needs to have some really strong and it s not just border money. they want policy. that is i can t underscore how big of a shift that is. i was in the white house briefing room yesterday when press secretary jean pierre chided republicans for not getting back to the house sooner to start negotiations. we ll certainly have much more on the border in the show later. punch bowl newsletter in you re inbo ....
