Despite pandemic, Maryland retains top credit rating

Despite Maryland spending vast sums from its rainy day fund to help address the coronavirus pandemic, the state retains its unanimous AAA bond rating, Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp said Wednesday.
The three major rating agencies also gave stable outlooks on Maryland s finances ahead of a $475 million bond sale set for Feb. 24.
Maryland is one of 13 states to have a AAA credit rating across the board, a distinction it has held since 1993.
“We are pleased that even with the many challenges Maryland faces as a result of COVID-19, the rating agencies recognize that the State’s proactive response to the pandemic, its steady commitment to prudent fiscal management, and the reserves it has built up over the last decade have helped us to weather the crisis so far, Kopp said in a statement. Second vaccine clinic announced at Moody Council meeting, rezoning requests approved

MOODY – A regular meeting of the Moody City Council on Monday, Feb. 8 heard reports from department heads, the announcement of the second vaccine clinic, and approved a rezoning request from two residents for 147 acres of land.
At the beginning of the meeting, Public Works Director Mike Staggs announced that the second round of COVID-19 vaccinations will be held on Feb. 18. The Alabama Department of Public Health will host a two-dose clinic at the Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
However, according to the center’s Facebook page, the clinic is for those who received their first vaccine on Jan. 21. Those who received that first vaccination may return on Feb. 18 to get a second. ....
