Two injured in shooting, robbery incidents

Lawmen are investigating separate incidents which left two people nursing wounds on Wednesday.According to the Barbados Police Service’s Public Relations Officer Inspector Rodney Inniss, around 12.50 pm, a 30-year old man reported that he had been shot in his stomach by another man, whilst at the National Botanical Gardens in an area near to the Combermere School.He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance to undergo surgery and was said to be in critical, but stable, condition.The assailant reportedly walked away from the scene in the company of a female and three children. ....

Feverish efforts to save man's life - Barbados Today

A young woman who tried to save the life of a man who subsequently died in the parking lot of Massy Stores in Warrens on Thursday is still in shock after witnessing him take his last breath.Twenty-three-year-old Brittany Brewster said it was sometime after 10:30 a.m. when she disembarked a bus at the southern end of the car park and noticed a minor car accident.The Barbados TODAY employee who was on her way to work nearby said she decided to approach the two cars to take a closer look after seeing no one outside either vehicle. It was then she noticed a man in one vehicle.“The windows were dark but something just felt off to me so I walked closer and realised that the gentleman had his head back on the seat. I knocked on the window and I didn’t get a response. I pulled the car door and was just asking him if he was okay and if he could hear me. But I didn’t get any response,” she recalled, adding that the man was gasping for air. ....

23 hurt in crash - Barbados Today

Twenty-three persons were injured, at least three seriously, when two minibuses collided on Monday at Prospect Main Road, St James leaving the busy Highway 1 closed for several hours.The mass casualty led to commuters having to be taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for medical attention while others were transported to a polyclinic for treatment.Head of the Emergency Ambulance Service, Dr David Byer, led a team of emergency personnel who assessed the injured persons at the scene, under a tent erected by members of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF).Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Rodney Inniss told members of the media who gathered at the scene that around 6:25 a.m. officers at the Holetown Police Station were informed about the accident involving the two Public Service Vehicles.“There were 23 persons in total who reported injuries, nine of whom were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. MP Rowe facing rape charge

Member of Parliament for St Michael North West Neil Rowe is expected to appear in the Oistins Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on the charge of rape. The 43-year-old has been in police custody for the past day being investigated on sexual assault allegations.
