A new mass vaccination centre opens on March 8 at Carmarthen showground AN ADDITIONAL mass vaccination centre will open in Carmarthenshire early next week. The centre, at the United Counties Showground in Carmarthen, opens on Monday, March 8 to support the delivery of Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Covid-19 vaccination programme. The health board recently confirmed people in priority groups 7, 8 and 9 – that is everyone aged between 50 and 64 years old with no underlying health conditions – will be invited to receive their first Covid-19 vaccine at a mass vaccination centre as follows: • Group 7, people aged 60 - 64 years - starting 8 March • Group 8, people aged 55 - 59 years - starting 22 March ....

Mary Kier, 108, is given the Covid vaccine at Ffairfach care home Awel Tywi. A 108-year-old Llandeilo care home resident is among the first to have been given the Covid-19 vaccine in west Wales as the roll-out begins across the region. A total of 37 residents at Awel Tywi in Ffairfach received their first dose of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine as part of a phased roll to care homes, including Mary Keir, a former nurse and the second oldest woman in Wales. Speaking after receiving her vaccine, Mary said: I was really happy to have the vaccine today. We ve been waiting for it to be ready. ....
The first care home residents in west Wales have received the COVID-19 vaccine today (Thursday, December 17) as part of a phased roll-out to care homes. Thirty-seven residents of Awel Twyi, in Llandeilo, received their first dose of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine, including 108-year-old Mary Kier, a former nurse and Wales’ second oldest woman. Speaking shortly after receiving her vaccine, Mary said: “I was really happy to have the vaccine today. We’ve been waiting for it to be ready. “Thank God for the people who have been able to get it for us. We’re very lucky. I now feel much safer and happier.” ....
