Krafton which is the parent company of PUBG Mobile has been trying to relaunch the online multiplayer game in India since its banned by the Indian government in September 2020. In May 2021, Krafton announced that they are launching a separate version of the game in India called - Battlegrounds Mobile India.

PUBG Mobile was banned in India last September under section 69A of the Information Technology Act. Since then, Krafton Inc has been trying extremely hard to relaunch the game in India. Giving you a short recap, first, the company cut ties with Tencent Games for the Indian distribution of the game, however, the game still did not relaunch at the time. Then the company announced to be working on a special fork of the game for the country, dubbed PUBG Mobile India, which also did not see the light of day. Some reports suggest PUBG Mobile India will head to the country soon while others deny these claims. A new report coming all the way from publisher Krafton re-affirms that the battle royale game will soon re-launch in the country. This comes as a sigh of relief for the gaming community. PUBG: New State pre-registrations on the Google Play play store started on February 25. The company took to Twitter to announce that it has crossed the five million mark within a week.
