Thousands of residents in Santa Barbara County could have their power shut off this week due to elevated fire risk.
Southern California Edison is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in Lompoc, Gaviota, Goleta, Santa Barbara and Montecito.
According to the utility company PSPS outage map, about 5,100 customers are under a PSPS consideration.
A PSPS is issued when elevated weather conditions have the likelihood of sparking vegetation or other items to be blown into power lines possibly creating a wildfire. ....

‘Firms must surpass minimum standards to ensure safety’
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue cybersecurity norms for payment service providers (PSPs), following a series of data breaches faced by operators including Mobikwik and payment aggregator JusPay, a top RBI official said.
While the standards for fintech-driven payment services providers will be similar to cyber hygiene norms issued recently for banks and non-banking finance companies, the RBI is quite clear that firms will have to do more than observe the minimum standards to ensure safety as digital transactions gain further traction. ....

Backup generators slated for Rancho de Calistoga mobile home park

After 15-16 weeks of order and delivery time, they should be installed by fall.
The generators will be owned by the city and leased to the park. If at any time the park no longer needs them, if for example PG&E supplies backup power to the park, the city may relocate the generators, said City Manager Mike Kirn.
Park owners have agreed to provide $68,700 in capital funding and to operate and maintain the generators through a nominal increase in the park’s private utility rates.
During previous PSPS events, PG&E has provided backup generators that power the city east of the Napa River. That scenario has left residents and businesses on the west side — including Rancho — without power during the outages. ....
