Columbia State's Maury County campus next in line for new building

As Williamson County’s campus of Columbia State Community State College prepares for the construction of a new arts and sciences building, the institution’s Maury County  grounds are next in line for a new building, according to the college’s leadership.
A proposed Southern Regional Technology Center will serve as a state-of-the-art facility, expanding the college’s footprint in health science and industrial technology.
“It lines up well with what the needs are,” Janet F. Smith, the president of Columbia State Community College told The Daily Herald. “Heath and industrial technology, the value and the need for those programs have become evident. It grew out of the need we have for better facilities that are more consistent with today’s technology and what needs to be available.   ....

Donors establish COVID-19 student support programs at Columbia State

The Columbia State Community College Foundation is establishing two grants and one scholarship to support the success of students fighting challenges brought on by COVID-19.
The three funds take into consideration challenges that students might encounter because of extenuating circumstances, including food insecurity and funding gaps such as tuition, fees and textbooks.
The initiatives were established with a contribution made by Columbia couple Constantine and Mary Vrailas.
Constantine Vrailas serves on the Columbia State Foundation Board.
The Vrailases have been supporters of the First Farmers Performance Series that hosts a variety of artists performing at the campus Cherry Theater, as well as the Pryor Art Gallery. ....
