rule all of the way to the supreme court. nbc capitol hill correspondent garrett haake has more. this comes after a federal appeals court in late july threw out a lawsuit from house republicans saying that the proxy voting system which allows members to essentially file their vote with another member who can cast it on their behalf and that s been in place since early in the pandemic is unconstitutional. house republicans have been trying to fight the proxy voting system almost since its inception, dozens of members have made use of it over the course of the pandemic. now they have mccarthy out with a statement asking the supreme court to weigh in on this. previous federal courts have said it is up to the house to make decisions about their own rules. mccarthy argues that by not voting in person the house is acting unconstitutionally and preventing the american people from seeing more debate, more of lawmakers doing the jobs they were elected to do. we will see if the supreme court
