Providence, RI, March 7, 2021 - RI Governor Dan McKee is sworn in by RI Sec of State Nellie Gorbea at a public ceremony at the RI State House on Sunday afternoon. First Lady, Susan McKee, is holding the bible.

Last week we saw that the new governor of Rhode Island, Dan McKee was sworn in at the State House. But the traditional ceremony on the front steps of the building took place on Sunday. Luckily it was sunny and not snowing, although that has not stopped the event in the past. Governor McKee’s inauguration was smaller than in past years, but a gathering of family, friends and officials were on hand to wish him well, as Kris Craig photographed the scene. ....

Last week I predicted an early spring – so much for that! Historically the first week of February is among the coldest of the year, and known for the heaviest snowfalls in our area. Sometimes I feel that I am still thawing out from the Blizzard of ’78, which was Feb. 6 of that year. I bought a pair of LL Bean Maine hunting shoes back then and I still have them. They are the oldest items in my wardrobe, and still in service. You can’t kill them. Kris Craig took a photo this week that looks like it is from the Iditarod. ....
