Randolph County Schools struggle with contact tracing under COVID rule

Randolph County Schools have been opened since August last year, but the school administration and staff are struggling to find more teachers to contact trace COVID exposures when other teachers are quarantining themselves. Contact tracing is a process that identifies, monitors, and supports individuals who may have been exposed to COVID. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, case investigation and contact tracing are essential interventions in a successful response to COVID. They should be implemented as schools return to in-person learning. Under H.R. 6666, the CDC would award grants for testing, contact tracing, and monitoring to address COVID. Under H.B. 1043 signed last May, $25,000,000 went to the Department of Health and Human Services to expand public and private COVID testing and contracting plans.
