I’d become fascinated with watching her bag them up and send them off with various relatives, neighbors, and family friends. But before they reached the hands of excited pecan lovers, I’d fixate my eyes on them falling from the trees as she gently shook the branches. It wasn’t exactly the snow I longed to witness in the South, but it was close enough.
