陌生人社交产品相比熟人社交产品，需要投入更多的市场营销费用。可以看到，最近一两年，Soul的付费用户数在增长，同时广告费用也在增长，这是Soul处于净亏损扩大态势的根源所在。
从2019年到2020年，销售费用由2.05亿元飙升至6.21亿元；至于2021年第一季度，销售费用更是夸张地为4.71亿元。
在招股书中Soul承认，“公司的当务之急是扩大用户规模，而要想获客，只能不断增加销售费用，而且未来公司通过第三方互联网平台获取用户流量，可能会变得越来越昂贵，公司未来可能会持续性地净亏损”。
此外，Soul在招股书的“风险因素”章节中也提到，若在品牌口碑、用户隐私、数据安全等方面遭遇问题，用户不能如预期增长，那么公司的运营也会遭遇重大不利影响。
