Stockbrokers welcome extension of temporary suspension on IDSS and PDT Short Sale

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): The Association of Stockbroking Companies Malaysia (ASCM) has welcomed the extension of the temporary suspension of Intraday Short Selling (IDSS) and the Intraday Short Selling by Proprietary Day Traders (PDT Short Sale) to Aug 29, 2021.
In a statement today, the Secretariat Office of ASCM said the extension of the temporary suspension for another six months will indeed help further stabilise and strengthen the present market conditions and increase the confidence of the market participants.
We commend the SC (Securities Commission Malaysia) and BM (Bursa Malaysia) for their response to the challenges of the Covid-19 by taking various measures, including regulatory relief consideration, for the securities industry with remarkable commitments and dynamism in assisting the industry to navigate through this pandemic. ....

Securities Commission Malaysia And Bursa Malaysia To Uplift Temporary Suspension Of Regulated Short Selling On 1 January 2021

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa Malaysia) will uplift the temporary suspension of Regulated Short Selling (RSS) and have reviewed other market management measures that were introduced this year following heightened market volatility arising from the broader impact of COVID-19.
This decision was made after careful consideration of current market conditions and the evolving needs of the market.
The suspension of RSS, scheduled to expire on 31 December 2020, will be uplifted on 1 January 2021 to facilitate investors’ risk management and revive Securities Borrowing and Lending (SBL) activities, which is an integral capital market function to promote product development and market making activities. ....
