I will always love my baby, tray. thanks to everyone who was with us and who will be with us so we together can make sure that this doesn t happen again. and this is from russell simmons. russell simmons wrote, i know many people are very upset about the verdict, but we must remain peaceful no matter what. remain peaceful and from singer john legend, my heart hurts and from the naacp, they have responded, they said this from the president, we are outraged and we are heart broken over today s verdict. we stand with trayvon s family and we are called to act. we will pursue civil rights charges with the department of justice and we will continue to fight for the removal of stand your ground laws in every state. and we will not rest until racial profiling in all its ....

Tragedy and learn from it. yeah, i think mr. crump there really seizes on what s most important. if people want to dance around what s going on here, that s fine, it s up to everybody s own choice, but you know, race played a role in people s perception of why this happened. and the idea now is what do we do with this? what are the dialogues to have? angela quarry is the florida attorney general in charge of the case. he didn t try it, but brought the charges. it is her case. she brought the charge. she says the racial concept was enough that we felt confident about bringing a murder charge, something we ll talk about this morning. confident enough to bring a murder charge on that basis but not to bring a charge that george zimmerman picked trayvon martin because of his race. there s a law on the books in florida for exactly that. they didn t charge him with that. why not if they were confident enough in that theory to bring a murder charge? something we ll discuss this morning ....

Racial profiling gone awry. and what are we supposed to do as african american parents and americans who care about black kids. i don t think white parents are expecting to tell their kids to wear a tuxedo. wait a second. the fact is black children have a lot more to fear from being killed by a young black often in a drug related environment. look at chicago last year. are you saying that those murders were racially inspired? there were 500 people killed in chicago last year. a vast majority of them tragically killed by somebody of their own race. so i think to jump from that nobody is suggesting go ahead about that. and when someone was identified as a shooter, they were put on trial. and in this case it took more than a couple of months of agitation to even get a trial. my concern in this case, mr. speaker, is that we are creating ....

Ground. self-defense. profiling. racial profiling. racism. and other words that we can t repeat on television. and it s all playing out right now at the seminole county courthouse in sanford, florida. where on the fifth floor of this courthouse, the fate of george zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman, could be made at any moment now as the jury is deliberating. they have been deliberating now for 12 hours and 15 minutes. they started at 9:00 a.m. eastern time and they are still at it. working through lunch, working through dinner, and i am told by one of my colleagues here, sunny hostin, they could go as late as 3:00 a.m. and cnn will be on the air until the deliberation is done or until there is a verdict, so make sure you stay tuned. now, to the question before the break, which side does this favor as they go longer and longer and deeper and deeper into the evening here? ....

Out of this horrible tragedy, it is the fact at least we have on the air and in public, at least begun talking about some of these issues. it is a bit uncomfortable to put yourself out there and have these conversations because you see the blowback. people judge you for that and they think you have an agenda. as a journalist, the agenda is just to start a conversation. and to have people to think sort of beyond the way they are thinking. you look at the reaction we got for those who might have missed it we had a heart-felt conversation about profiling. a friend of mine, and there are a lot of people discussing things. if we have not lived in somebody else s shoes, for people to think because we have a black president or somebody has black friends the issue is over in america. we still have racism and prejudice. we have to have a dialogue about it. ....
