We begin with big changes in the way police identify potential suspects and how certainly criminals are treated once they are arrested. monday a u.s. district judge struck down the stop and frisk tactics employed by new york city police, a decision that could have implications far beyond the city. the judge called it indirect racial profiling she said violated the constitutional rights of minorities who were stopped by police more often than whites. the judge called for reforms in policy, for training and supervision, but also stopped short of ordering an end to that practice. nonetheless, really a shot across the bow of nypd and cities across the country that employ similar tactics. new york city mayor bloomberg lashed out at the judge calling the decision dangerous and insisting no changes were eminent. the city s top cop, ray kelly, said the ruling was simply unfair. what i find most disturbing ....

Primarily we believe because of how we looked and people didn t believe we were who we said we were. i m also not surprised that the mayor decided to decline to speak because they can t back up their numbers. so they play fuzzy math when it comes to numbers and like to pretend in large chunks that they ve done things but what they don t tell you is the largest decline in that murder rate came before the mayor came into office. there is no correlation between the increased numbers of stops, more guns on the streets, less shootings, period. so what do you attribute the fact there has been this notable drop in murder and serious crime since the 90s? you think that stop & frisk is not the reason for it. then what is? we know that s not the reason for it, that s one. and the way they ve been doing it, the profiling, is ....

does it trouble you at all that 88% of the stops that are police are doing result in the release of the person? so if there s a reason to stop the people, they re stopping, how come so many of them are innocent. it s kind of like when i see crime in my neighborhood, and i see a suspicious person. the first thing, i see someone breaking into a car about the first thing the police officer asks me, miss wright, what s the person s race. i don t think this is racial profiling, this is profiling for suspects. what we know, the suspects are over 90% hispanic, and blacks. and i think the one thing i will say about the judge s ruling, i think it s ironic, she says it s not it s unconstitutional, but i m not going to end the program, i m all for looking at how we train officers, but i think the new york nypd is doing a heck of a job, it s safer when i go to new york. i m not afraid to walk from the subway station to wherever i m going. you were quoted by the judge ....

Every one of us as an american should be entitled to feel comfortable in, exists not just on fifth avenue and park avenue, but exists on 125th street and ocean brownsville, that s something to be commended. so the policy as it s being used now, do you feel it should continue even if it violates the constitution? i don t think it constitutes a violation. it could, but i don t believe i think the judge is off based saying this is racially profiling. if you re going to be looking in high crime areas like the housing projects of new york city, then and you re going to be stopping people who your years of experience and training on the street tell you, should be asked a question about what they re up to, i think that s a commendable thing. it s not racial profiling. it s trying to prevent crime in places where too many cities in america, the white liberal establishment is says so long as crime is only going on down there, it s okay. it s not okay. every american has the right to ....

Talent, we re locking them up, spending all the money on jails and not putting money in schools to educate them so that they are able to take the jobs that we re creating right here in america, the good high-tech jobs if we train them. we use the same amount of money that we use to lock up folks, to educate folks, then we ll see we ll start moving up in the world again and educating and putting people to work. and that s what america wants. because they understand it helps us when folks are working and not in jail. now, barbara, yesterday a federal judge ruled that stop and frisk in new york was unconstitutional. and in fact was profiling, and said the city leaders was turning a blind eye. of course over across town at fox, they went berserk. they didn t waste any time attacking the ruling. watch this. you have people who live in these so-called bad, poor neighborhoods that mayor bloomberg was talking about there that they re actually against the judge s decision. the judge shoul ....
