There has been so much outcry not just about ferguson but about a bigger picture of police violence and racial profiling throughout the entire country. president obama outlined several new efforts in effort to combat this just yesterday. among them, significantly expanding funding and training for local law enforcement. and that includes a focus on body-worn cameras. according to fbi statistics last year, there are more than 600,000 police officers in the united states, sworn police officers. the president wants to fund up to 50,000 additional cameras for agencies. that will cost about $75 million. i m joined now by tom fuentes. tom, the first thing i saw was this disconnect between 50,000 cameras and 600,000-plus ....

Talking to yesterday, i get it. that resonated with them. guess who it didn t resonate with. the men and women who put on the uniform and go out and police every day. they are hearing his message too. i don t speak for every law enforcement officer in america but i ll defend them. they hear that too. also the criminal element hears that. the criminal element has to understand that pretty soon we re going to have local law enforcement officers on their heels as they go out there to police and these criminals realize that they are going to be doing whatever they want and that any time they get stopped by the police they will yell racial profiling. i want to hear a definition from the attorney general on just what racial profiling is. he knows that the courts have ruled that law enforcement officers can use race as one of many factors in making police decisions. not in and of itself but as one of many factors. do you do that, sheriff? sure. sure. we re allowed to do that. ....
