Victoria s fifth lockdown will be extended after the state s outbreak grew by another 13 community cases today.
We will not be ready to remove the lockdown at midnight tomorrow night, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced this afternoon. It would be perhaps a few days of sunshine, and then we d be a very high chance to be back in lockdown again, that s what I m trying to avoid.
Andrews did not specify how long the lockdown extension would be, saying as soon as [health officials] can confirm for Victorians how much longer [the lockdown will last] and in what circumstances, I will do that. And I hope that will be around this time tomorrow. ....

People have voiced their anger over a graphic COVID-19 advertisement airing on Sydney television screens that seems to encourage young people to get vaccinated when many are still unable to.
In the short federal government-funded TV ad, a young woman on a ventilator struggles to breathe in a hospital bed as her heart monitor beeps.
She slowly makes eye contact with the camera and gasps for air as a message reads: COVID-19 can affect anyone. Stay home. Get tested. Book your vaccination.

Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said the Australian government had specifically commissioned the ad because of the intensifying outbreak in NSW. ....

The Federal Government will air a confronting advertisement in Sydney tonight as a direct response to the Sydney outbreak.

As the Sydney cluster continues to grow in size and spread the Federal Government has authorised a confronting advertisement in a direct response to the Sydney outbreak.
Overnight the state recorded 77 new cases with 33 of those in the community while infectious in addition to the death of a 90-year-old woman.
Despite recording the highest number of daily cases from the Bondi cluster the Premier said she expected the numbers to get worse. ....
