Local U3A meets again The local branch was started by Karen Marshall in 2003 and has grown, along with Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, to be the central gathering place for like-minded people in the Garden Route. The Covid-19 pandemic has interrupted the lives of everybody but one thing it has taught us is the need to maintain the connection between family and friends. Sadly some friends have died while others have moved or, in some cases, are still stranded outside the country. ....
Image: Max Pixel GEORGE NEWS - U3A meetings will be starting again, more than a year after the Covid pandemic made it impossible for members to get together. The Outeniqua Shell Hole or Moth Hall in Rijk Tulbach Street, Loerie Park, is the new meeting place. The first meeting will be on Tuesday 13 April when Hugo Leggatt will tell members of his trip to the northern region of Ethiopia. This meeting will start at 14:00. On Friday 23 April, Prof Maureen Coetzee will deliver a lecture titled Malaria - then and now . Coetzee is the winner of the Distinguished Woman Scientist of the Year award of the Department of Science and Technology and also sits on one of the committees for the World Health Organisation (WHO). This lecture will start at 10:30 at the Moth Hall in Rijk Tulbach Street. ....
