Five more people - four of whom are family members of Durban businessman Thoshan Panday - have been formally charged in connection with the 2010 Soccer World Cup police accommodation graft case.

Panday, KZN s former police commissioner, Mmamonnye Ngobeni, former police officer s, Navin Madhoe and Ashwin Narainpershad are facing charges of fraud and corruption linked to the multi-million rand accommodation tender.
The five new accused appeared in the Durban Magistrate s Court on Friday.

Arvenda Panday, the 69-year-old mother of criminally charged uMhlanga businessman Thoshan Panday, looked frail as she made her first appearance in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Friday on graft charges relating to the R60-million 2010 Soccer World Cup police accommodation scandal.
The accused number five’s head was draped in a light scarf, coiled at her neck over a loose-fitting blouse, but even that could not disguise her rapid breathing as she tried unsuccessfully, almost coyly, to avert her eyes from the media.
Her physical appearance was in striking contrast to that of Thoshan’s wife – accused number six, 45-year-old Privisha Panday – who betrayed no emotion. She seemed, at least for now, perfectly in control. ....

The family members and a personal assistant of controversial Durban businessman, Thoshan Panday, appeared at the Durban Magistrate s Court on Friday facing multiple charges of fraud and corruption relating to the 2010 FIFA World Cup police accommodation case.

Thoshan Panday and four family members appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on charges related to a R47 FIFA World Cup Soccer contract.
Thoshan Panday bowed his head when he stood in the dock together with four family members, including his mother, who are now also facing corruption charges related to R47 million 2020 Fifa World Cup accommodation contracts in the Durban Magistrates Court.
Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka said Thoshan Panday’s mother, Arevenda Panday; his wife, Privisha Panday, his sister Kajal Ishwarkumar, his brother-in-law Seveesh Maharaj Ishwarkumar and his former personal assistant Tasleem Rahiman were arrested this week on charges of racketeering, fraud, and money laundering. Thoshan Panday’s mother, Arvenda Panday, 69, his wife Privisha Panday, (née Summerjeeth), 45, his brother-in-law Seevesh Maharaj Ishwarkumar, Panday’s sister and wife to Seevesh, Kajal Ishwarkumar, 37 and Thoshan’s then assistant Tasleem Rahimna, 35, are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 7 May to be officially served with the state’s over 200-page indictment and have their names added to the court roll.
From there, the matter is expected be transferred to the Durban High Court, where all five of the additional accused are expected to stand trial alongside those initially charged in the matter: former police colonel Navin Madhoe, 51, Madhoe’s then subordinate, former captain Ashwin Narainpershad, 52, retired KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni, 52, and 48-year-old Thoshan Panday. ....
