With four published collections and appearances in numerous outlets, Katie Ford’s poetry has found a wide audience. But over the last decade, the professor of creative writing at UC Riverside has embarked on a series of collaborations that have allowed audiences a unique way to experience her work through music. 
The first, with composer David Serkin Ludwig in 2011, came about after a mutual friend suggested Ludwig set text from Ford’s poetry to one of his compositions. A new experience for Ford at the time, the two would go on to collaborate on three projects involving Ford’s poetry and Ludwig’s music over the next several years. South Orange Performing Arts Center will present a virtual program by the Fort Lee-based dance company Nai-Ni Chen 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10.nainichen.org

The South Orange Performing Arts Center will present the Nai-Ni Chen dance company in a 60-minute virtual presentation Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.
The Asian-American company’s program, titled “Awakening,” will include a pair of world premieres along with two works created in 2019:
Luminescence (premiere), with music by Max Richter and featuring dancers Yuka Notsuka and Rio Kakuchi, explores the “feelings of sanctuary we find in the grace, magic and wonder of nature and reminds us how we coexist with other life forms.” ....
