Holness hands over 700 electronic devices to infant schoolers

Prime Minister Andrew Holness fulfilled a commitment to infant school students in his West Central St Andrew constituency on Friday, when he handed over some 700 electronic devices, including laptops, tablets and printers.
The presentation was done through a combination of resources from Holness’ Positive Jamaica Foundation and PrintWare Online Jamaica Limited.
According to Holness, the infant school children in the constituency are now being catered for after Positive Jamaica Foundation handed out devices to students who are preparing for the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
“The needs had to be met. Infants require tremendous educational stimulation, especially now where distance learning has become the new norm,” said Holness. ....

Jamaica s World Under-20 sprint double gold medallist Briana Williams on Thursday visited Prime Minister Andrew Holness at the Office of the Prime Minister.
During the visit, the 18-year-old who is based in the United States presented printers to Holness for distributing to schools as Jamaica continues to navigate remote learning during the pandemic.
This represents another in a series of philanthropic efforts by the athlete, who recently donated tablets to student-athletes and a printing system to the Jamaica Cancer Society. Williams also handed gifts to over 100 children in the community of Paradise Acres in Norwood, Montego Bay in December. ....
