Visitor limitations now in effect at Victoria Hospital


Visitor limitations are now in place at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has informed the public of an increased risk of COVID-19 at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital.
They are strongly encouraging any Saskatchewan resident, especially those who are unvaccinated, to:
Keep 2 metres away from others when in public and wear a mask.
Limit gatherings.
Do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth or mask with unwashed hands.
Stay home if you are unwell; seek health care services when you need help.
Regularly monitor your health for any COVID-19 symptoms.
Family presence and visitation is being restricted to level three on the fifth and sixth floors of the Victoria Hospital in order to keep everyone in SHA care spaces safe during this time. ....

Tuesday’s announcement that the province hopes to break ground on the expansion of the Victoria Hospital by next year was welcomed by local leaders as welcome news heralding future growth for the city.
 “I’m very happy. That’s great for our recovery program. It’s going to get people back to work. There are so many great things about it,” said Mayor Greg Dionne. ....

2021 pandemic budget forecasts deficit of $2.6 billion


The budget’s focus, she said in an embargoed news conference Tuesday morning, is on protecting the “health and public safety of Saskatchewan people and the province s economy in the fight against COVID-19,” while making “record investments in health care, education, social services, and the protection of people and property.”
This budget “will protect Saskatchewan people through the pandemic, as more vaccines are delivered and life begins to return to normal, Harpauer said in speaking to reporters in an embargoed news conference Tuesday. This budget will build Saskatchewan by investing in new long-term care facilities, hospitals, schools, highways and vital municipal infrastructure. And as our province and our economy emerges from the pandemic, this budget will grow Saskatchewan through incentives and key investments, while keeping life affordable for families. ....

Weyburn General Hospital replacement gets $1.4 million for planning


Asked about what is happening with the replacement of Weyburn General Hospital, Merriman said, “We’ve got seed money in this budget to be able to do to work on that. So we re working with Sask. Builds, and other arms of the government, and working with community consultation to be able to get that Weyburn hospital up and running as fast as we possibly can. 
Asked for a timeframe, he responded, “We haven t got the timeframe nailed down right now. We re still in the process of working it out. There’s a large consultation process that we have to go through with any large build like this, but it is moving forward to where we re hoping to get it done as soon as possible.” ....
