The state-run Saudi Press Agency identified the men as soldiers working in the defence ministry. It did not elaborate on how the men aided the kingdom’s enemies. The ministry named the three soldiers Mohammed bin Ahmed, Shaher bin Issa and Hamoud bin Ibrahim without identifying which “enemy” they were accused of aiding. The ministry said the soldiers were executed in the military’s Southern Command, based close to the border with Yemen, where Saudi Arabia is leading a six-year campaign against Iran-aligned Houthi rebels.

Press TV: A US report raises the alarm about the forced disappearance of many senior Saudi Arabian royals last year, but makes no mention of the kingdom’s controversial crown prince, after whose rise to power the courtiers were spirited away. The US State Department released the report on Tuesday, an annual account that addresses the issue of “human rights” in various countries. The disappearances all took place last March. “In early March, authorities reportedly detained four senior princes: Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, King Salman’s full brother; his son, Prince Nayef bin Ahmed, a former head of army intelligence; Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, former crown prince and interior minister; and his younger brother, Prince Nawaf bin Nayef,” the report says.
