Alfaro, 52, also wants a federal appeals court to set aside an order directing him to pay about $9.9 million in restitution to 425 victims. He is not seeking to overturn his conviction. The appeal was filed Monday with the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans by San Antonio attorney Michael McCrum, who defended Alfaro during his trial last year. ....
