The Eastern Economic Corridor Office aims to attract 300 billion baht in investment applications for the flagship Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow, who chaired a meeting of a subcommittee on EEC policy, said on Monday the government is ready to come up with proactive approaches to achieve this target.
The EEC Office and the Board of Investment (BoI) have been instructed to improve regulations, privileges and facilitate ease of doing business as advised by the private sector, he said.
According to Mr Supattanapong, the government late last year organised a joint meeting with 23 Thai firms listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) to ask for cooperation to increase their investment, attract or seek joint ventures with prospective foreign companies. ....

Bangkok (VNA) â The Government of Thailand has adopted a strategic plan on the bio, circular and green (BCG) economy to drive
economic growth from 2021 to 2026.
The five-year strategic plan was approved at the first meeting of a management committee to drive the BCG economy chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on January 13.
According to PM Prayut, the government agreed to place BCG on the national agenda to speed up development because the sectors can increase the value of farm products and BCG is part of a global development trend. ....

The national medical council officially made its debut at a ceremony in Hanoi on January 15, which has been regarded as a milestone of the domestic health care sector.
The council was formed in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 956/QD-TTg, with the aim of assisting the Government leader in preparing necessary conditions for organising capacity assessment in medical profession.

The government remains adamant it is continuing its long-delayed Dawei special economic zone (DSEZ) project and vows to find solutions to obstacles at a tripartite meeting between Thailand, Japan and Myanmar.
Deputy Prime Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow, who is chairman of the Thai-Myanmar Joint High-Level Committee (JHC) for the DSEZ, said Thailand s government agencies are looking for solutions before the next JHC meeting, which has not been scheduled.
Any solutions approved by the JHC will then be proposed to the tripartite meeting, said Mr Supattanapong.
The Dawei project should be not only a deep-sea port, but also a location for industrial development, he said. ....
