Pashinian Defends Track Record Կիսվել Տպել Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian defended his track record on Monday, saying that his administration has achieved the key aim of the “velvet revolution” that brought him to power three years ago. “I regard what I just said as our biggest achievement: the citizens of the Republic of Armenia feel that they are the masters of our country. At the end of the day, this is what the nonviolent, velvet, popular revolution of 2018 was done for and that goal has been achieved,” he said, speaking in the parliament. Pashinian claimed to have carried out important “institutional reforms,” seriously reduced tax evasion and made “revolutionary changes” in the country’s prison system. He also insisted that the current Armenian government does not control the judiciary unlike the previous ones. ....
Former Army Chief Demands Release Of Transcript Of Security Meeting 1 ժամ առաջ Տարածել Տպել Onik Gasparian, Armenia’s former top general controversially replaced last month, demanded the declassification of some security documents on Tuesday in response to fresh government allegations that he lied about last year’s war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian again attacked Gasparian when he spoke in the Armenian parliament last week. In particular, Pashinian denied Gasparian’s November 17 claim that three days after the September 27 outbreak of the war he warned Pashinian that Armenia and Karabakh are heading for defeat and that the fighting must be stopped as soon as possible. Pashinian insisted that Gasparian made a statement to the contrary at a September 30 meeting of his Security Council. ....
